I've Had An Idea - Think McDonald's, But Better

Catchy title? Is it click-baity? Maybe, but it's for a good reason. I was thinking the other day, I really don't like McDonald's. Like, I will drive miles out of the way to avoid eating there. I mean, I don't care for other fast food places either, so this isn't just about McD's. But seeing the long drive thru lines and knowing why people - myself included - sit for ten minutes or more waiting for food got me to thinking: would people line up like that for a healthy restaurant?
I got to thinking, if we took the model of McDonald's, which is basically cheap and fast food, and applied that to a place that served only healthy food, would people still go? Would there be long lines inside and out? Would people even want that? I know that I would! The reason I go to places like Taco Bell (which is the place I go most often when eating out) is because the food is edible (usually...) cheap and quick. I don't have to do anything but drive up to the speaker, tell them what I want, and drive up to the window to pay and get my food.

I know that's the same reason many other people have for frequenting these places. And if you ask half of them to really, truly, consider it? They realize they don't even like the food. And the way it makes you feel when you're done? Ugh. Half the time I wonder if it's even worth it.

But what if we had a healthy version of those places? Somewhere that doesn't serve burgers or greasy fries? Where you can order a healthy garden salad, or fruit salad. A place where you can get nutritious smoothies. And pay the same prices you pay at McDonald's and get it just as fast. Would you go? Let me know by answering the poll below. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Am I completely insane for thinking this? Is this even something that would work, or would it fail within the first few months? Let me know what you think in the comments, I'd love a discussion to start about this!

  1. I think it's an awesome idea! I get the same way after eating most fast food. It feels good at first, but then I realize I'm still hungry for some reason. I know Tropical Smoothie and some Panera Breads have drive thrus, but they're pretty expensive and I can't go often.

    1. Right, most of the "easy" or "convenient" healthy(ish) places are expensive. I would love something like McDonald's but with healthy food.
