Walmart Beauty Box Review

So this is a thing apparently. And I don't just mean that Walmart has a beauty box. Everyone seems to have a beauty box. I mean me buying them. Never thought I'd be into this, but I am. Walmart does a quarterly box, and I got the spring 2016 one.

Can I just say that this is a super pretty box? It's not as pretty as the Birchbox one, but it's still pretty for sure.

The first things I pulled out were some cards and a BB cream sample.

The Walmart beauty card, and then a Colgate card as well.

Burt's Bees BB Cream
This is a tiny, one use, sample. Unfortunately it's so not my color. I'm very light, this is light/medium. I might use the coupon though for $3 off that it came with and get the right color. I couldn't find this on the Walmart website, which is a bit odd because you're supposed to be able to buy all of this stuff at Walmart. Mine was a 0.03 oz sample and retail is 1.2 oz.
Original Price: $15 (actual value: $26¢)

Curel Itch Defense Body Wash
This is interesting. I do have pretty dry skin and when it gets too dry it gets really itchy. I'll have to try this out. As you can see, mine is 1 oz and it retails at 10 oz.
Original Price: $6.99 (actual value: $69¢)

CeraVe Healing Ointment
This is a small sample of a healing ointment. I'm not sure what I would use this for, because I don't need healing ointment much. The only place that needs healing is my lips because they're chapped, but this specifically says if swallowed call poison control. So that's a no. Maybe it can be used for tattoo healing? Hmm, but would it mess it up? I don't know. According to this site, which is all about tattoos and healing, you can. Drop me a comment if you can think of what this could be used for! Mine is 0.085 oz and retail is 12 oz.
Original Price: $20.87 (actual value: $15¢)

Jergens Natural Glow Daily For Fair to Medium Skin Tones Moisturizer
This looks like it might be a tanning moisturizer. It says it's for light to medium skin, so hopefully this won't make me look like a damn Oompa Loompa! I haven't tried it yet though. Jergens is a pretty good brand. Mine is 2 oz and it retails for 7.5 oz.
Original Price: $8.21 (actual value: $2.19)

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo
I haven't tried this yet but a coworker of mine got the same box and used hers already. She liked it. She said it made her hair super shiny and she thinks she can already see a lightening effect. I don't know about that, but her hair definitely looks shinier. And John Frieda is a pretty good brand. Mine is 2 oz and it retails at 8.3 oz.
Original Price: $8.97 (actual value: $2.16)

Colgate Optic White Platinum High Impact White Toothpaste
This is a full size toothpaste. It promises whiter teeth within three days, but I don't know if you're supposed to use it twice a day or just once. Either way, I could use whitening....
Original Price: $3.99 (actual value: $3.99)

Total Retail: $64.03; Total Actual Value: $9.44 or $12.44 if you include the coupon.

That's a pretty decent value for a $5 box. I would love to see more value in future boxes, but it's Walmart. I wasn't expecting a whole lot. Just getting my money's worth is good enough for me.

Have you ever gotten a Walmart beauty box? Do you use a different subscription makeup box? I also signed up recently for Birchbox so check out my posts about that here. And I post my Ipsy reviews, you can see my latest one here. Will you get a Walmart box? Let me know in the comments below!
