New Years Resolutions?

Ah New Year. It's a wonderful time of year. My sick time and vacation time at work just renewed, so now I get to think about the days I want to take off. That's it really, I don't like this time of year for anything else. Seriously. Kinda sad; but it is what it is, I guess.

I know everyone is all "new year, new me!" I think that's bullshit. People rarely change, and they rarely keep the resolutions they make. By now, most people have already quit. It's only the 17th....

I don't make resolutions anymore. Rather than jumping on the bandwagon and lying to myself, I try to make changes throughout the year. And since I'm not really good at that, I know I won't make huge changes at the beginning of the year.

People seem to think that January 1st is magic and they'll suddenly develop willpower they never had before. I'm not sure where that logic comes from. If you didn't do it before, you won't do it now just because it's January.

I also don't understand why January is the beginning of the year. Why are we starting a new year in the middle of a season? And winter to boot! Personally, I think we should change the New Year to the beginning of Spring. Think about it, Spring represents new beginnings and everyone seems to be cleaning anyway. Maybe we need a new tradition. Instead of "New Years Resolutions" we start "Spring Resolutions."

That will probably never catch on, lol! But that's why I don't do resolutions. I'm all for other people doing them, but I'm never surprised when they don't succeed. And that makes me sound kind of bitchy, but I'm not saying it in that way. But anyway, here's to a great 2017!

Do you make resolutions? Tell me about them in the comments!
